Evidence to Support Plasma Therapy as Treatment for Coronavirus Disease, We are
Still in the Experimental Stage: Health Ministry
Amid the ongoing corona crisis in the country, the central
government of India has made it clear on Tuesday that there is no firm evidence
yet of treating coronavirus with plasma therapy.
On behalf of the Health Ministry said that all claims about
this are wrong and we are still at the experimental stage. The health ministry
gave this information in a press conference on Tuesday.
On behalf of the Ministry of Health, it was said that plasma therapy
is still an experimental stage when no firm evidence is found about it, it should
not be used by anyone, because it can be harmful to the patient.
Senior health ministry official Lav Agarwal said that the
Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has started a national-level study to
analyze the efficacy of plasma therapy in the treatment of coronavirus disease.
Currently, there are no approved, definitive therapies for #COVID19. Convalescent plasma is one of the several emerging therapies. However, there is no robust evidence to support it for routine therapy. @US_FDA has also viewed it as an experimental therapy (IND). 1/4— ICMR (@ICMRDELHI) April 28, 2020
Meanwhile, the case of coronavirus in the country has reached
close to 30 thousand.
According to the latest data released by the Health Ministry,
the number of coronavirus infections in India has increased to 29974.
In the last 24 hours, 1594 new coronavirus cases have been
reported and 51 people have died.
At the same time, 937 people have died from COVID-19 in the
country so far, although it is a matter of relief that 7027 patients have also
been successful in defeating this disease.
Let us know that in view of the increasing case of
coronavirus in the country, the lockdown has been extended till May 3. However,
during the national lockdown to break the coronavirus outbreak, from April 20,
some relaxation has also been given in those areas where corona cases are less.
